Confession and Assurance (Psalm 32)

If Jesus has already paid for all our sins, why do we confess our sins? Confession isn’t about getting God to forgive us; it’s speaking the truth to ourselves and God about the way we really are. Confession frees us and confession grows us. But it’s only in the security of God’s covenant faithfulness that we are safe to be honest. That’s why we also need to also be reassured of God’s unfailing love and forgiveness to humble people who confess their failing and their need.
