Loss Loneliness and Lament (Lamentations 1)

Lamentations is an extended poetic reflection on the destruction of Jerusalem, the exile of God’s people, and all the loss, horror, and confusion that went with those events. While the message of the gospel is joy and peace, it’s also healthy to grieve over losses, sorrows, and sin, especially as we head towards Easter. We see how our brokenness brings destruction and alienation as a people who mourns the difference between life as it is and the life of the world to come. And we long for a savior who offers hope.
