One People United in Christ

Western Christians mostly see salvation in individual terms, what God has done for me. Much of that is true in the first chapter and a half of Ephesians, but God's saving grace is much broader, going beyond the individual to the church. It includes God's work to "unite all things in him," (1:10) and to "create in Himself one new man in place of the two." (2:15). This is the church, the gathering of God's people from all over the world into one body, starting by breaking down the wall between Jew and Gentile. What other walls is God breaking down? Are we embracing God's purpose or fighting against it?
